2nd GlobCover User Consultation2008-03-17 The 2nd End User Consultation held at FAO (Roma, Italy) on 10th March 2008 provided Partners and Users with a platform to share their analyzes and discuss the quality of the GlobCover Land Cover version1 product. On the 10 March 2008, the 2nd GlobCover User Consultation was help in FAO (Rome, Italy). The quality of the product was deeply discussed and despite an overall accuracy ranked 73% according to land cover types of the dichotomous phase, several artifacts were noted in the products (e.g. land/sea discrimination, snow detection, lines artifacts,...) The GlobCover partners (FAO, UNEP, JRC, EEA, GOFC, IGBP) decided that it would not be appropriate to distribute the GlobCover version 1 to public. The European Space Agency in consultation with MEDIAS France took the decision to present the product but not distribute it yet. The release of the product is postponed to July 2008 with GlobCover version 2. The GlobCover version 1 can be consulted here.
